"Targeted brain surgery"

With more than three decades of extensive research, evaluation and clinical experience to back it up, the Gamma Knife has become the premiere radiosurgical instrument.

The Robert R. Smith M.D. Gamma Knife Center uses the Gamma Knife to treat a wide variety of conditions:
  • Metastatic tumors, which have spread to the brain from other areas in the body.
  • Benign brain tumors such as acoustic neuromas, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, chordomas and pineal tumors.
  • Functional disorders which include intractable pain, trigeminal neuralgia (facial pain), Parkinson's disease and Epilepsy.
  • Vascular disorders such as arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and carvernous malformations.
  • Malignant tumors such as metastases, glial tumors and ocular melanomas.

The Gamma Knife may be an ideal solution for patients who cannot undergo conventional surgery due to age, certain health conditions, or an inability to tolerate general anesthesia.
